We Brits love our asparagus. Grilled on the BBQ, warmed in a pan with lashings of butter or dipped into a runny egg, we just can’t get enough of the little green blighters!
As well as tasting fantastic they are packed full of vitamins A, B and C, pretty much fat-free and full of fibre. It’s also a member of the lily family…go figure! Lucky for us it’s currently in season, until about 20th June, so get yourselves down to your local green grocer and grab a few bunches.

P.S. Don’t be alarmed if your pee smells a little funky or is a tad green after consuming asparagus – this is due to sulphur-containing amino acids in the veg that break down during digestion.
