Indoor Garden Invasion
Make room indoors with your own winter garden!
25 January 2016 / Tips
Forget those droopy pot plants you see in Dentist’s waiting rooms. Let alone that dusty bunch of fake flowers your Granny loves.
We’re saying ‘Keep Exploring’ this Winter by bringing the outdoors indoors in a whole new, stylish way. A new era of urban indoor gardening has begun and if you don’t know your ‘Terrariums’ from your Air Plants, read on.
Let’s start with Terrariums. (If that sounds too much like a dinosaur, think ‘My Little Greenhouse’). Grab a jam jar or a fish tank and you’re already up and running. There’s loads of help online, but basically a bit of earth and the right kind of plants – cactuses* and ferns are good – and your Terrarium is ready to green up your Winter blues.
Airplant hangers are another ultra-hip way to bring some vibrancy into your indoor world. And for the really adventurous with a few spare plastic bottles, how about some homemade hydroponics? Don’t be put off by the science. ‘Window Farming’ is bringing much needed natural beauty and health to indoor urbanites this Winter.
Then how about a sitting room picnic in your new indoor/outdoor idyll? A plateful of Vogel’s toast and sandwiches and a soundtrack of tweeting birds should do it. As you sink your teeth into another crunchy slice, just spare a thought for the outdoor welly brigade.
